Wood modification is an excellent and increasingly used method to expand the application of woody materials. Traditional methods, such as chemical or thermal, have been developed for targeted improvement some selected properties, unfortunately typically at expense others. These methods generally alter composition wood, thus its mechanical enhance dimensional stability, water resistance, decrease susceptibility microorganisms. Although conventional achieve desired they require a lot energy chemicals, therefore research moving towards more environmentally friendly processes. The advantage modern that in most cases, only modify surface do not affect structure properties while reducing amount chemicals used. Cold plasma treatment one cheapest easiest technologies with limited burden on environment. In this review, we focus cold treatment, interaction between wood compounds, advantages compared traditional perspectives.
